Dear Fellow Hypnotherapist,

    In doing an internet search under my name, Alfred A. Barrios, I noticed that quite a few hypnotherapy websites had been referring to a review of the psychotherapy literature I had presented many years ago in the journal, "Psychotherapy: Theory, Research and Practice (1970)". Yours (Gallant Hypnotherpaist) was among them.

    In this review article I pointed out that the average success rate for hypnotherapy was 93% after an average of 6 sessions. This was compared to a 38% success rate after an average of 600 sessions for psychoanalysis and 72% after 22 sessions for behavior therapy. I am writing to let you know that a copy of this entire article, entitled "Hypnotherapy: A Reappraisal", can be found at my website, www.stresscards.com, in the articles section. I think you will find some of the other articles in this section also of interest. This includes articles on:

•    My Theory of Hypnosis, which was recently published in the academic journal Contemporary Hypnosis (the journal of the British Society of Clinical and Experimental Hypnosis);

• The use of my Hypnosis-based SPC program for decreasing dropout and substance abuse in the schools (one of the students in my SPC class for minority students at UCLA in 1972 was a high school dropout by the name of Antonio Villaraigosa who is now the current Mayor of Los Angeles); and
• My article entitled Science in Support of Religion: From the Perspective of a Behavioral Scientist, an article that was highly praised by Charles H. Townes, Ph.D. (among others), the inventor of the LASER and 1964 Nobel Prize winner in physics, and the 2005 winner of the 1.5 million dollar Templeton Prize in religion.
